About

Dr. Fiasse Michel studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Notre Dame de la Paix in Namur where he did his first three applications before pursuing his doctorate at the Facultés Universitaires Saint-Luc (UCL) in Brussels where he obtained his medical degree with great distinction in 1991.

Advised by his uncle René Fiasse, himself a professor of Gastro-Enterology at Saint-Luc, and intending to pursue a medical career in Brussels, he opted for bilingualism by deciding to continue his training with a specialisation in Internal Medicine and a sub-specialisation in Gastro-Enterology at the "Universitair Ziekenhuis - VUB" in Jette.

During his six years of specialisation, he worked for four years at the UZ-VUB in Brussels, but also for one year at the Serruys Ziekenhuis in Ostend and finally for fifteen months at the OLV Ziekenhuis in Aalst, where he was trained in invasive endoscopic techniques such as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiography (ERCP) by Dr Luc Lepoutre and Dr Peter Vandespecht.

He became a specialist in Gastro-Enterology and started his career at the Deux-Alice Clinic in Uccle in October 1997 with the renowned Brussels Gastro-Enterologist Dr. Aivars Gulbis, where he worked for three years before being integrated in January 2000 as the fourth Gastro-Enterologist in the Internal Medicine pool of the Cliniques de l'Europe (Saint-Elisabeth and Deux-Alice sites).

In 2002 and 2003 Dr. Fiasse also trained in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy at the North Hospital of Marseille with Professor Marc Barthet as part of a University Diploma (D.U.) in Endoscopy at the University of La Timone (Marseille) which he obtained in March 2003.

In 2011, he founded a medical company with his colleague and friend Anesthesiologist Dr. Samir Kaddar and together they took over the DDG Center which they jointly manage and which they develop and expand until today where the DDG Center is more flourishing and renowned than ever in the Belgian medical landscape.

At the same time, Dr. Fiasse has become increasingly involved in the governing bodies of the Cliniques de l'Europe (CDLE), being elected successively as a member of the Medical Council (M.C.) of the CDLE from 2012 to 2015, then as Secretary of the M.C. from 2015 to 2018 and finally as President of the M.C. from 2018 to 2021.

He also actively participated in the creation of the first Brussels-BW hospital network comprising the Cliniques Universitaires St-Luc, the Clinique St-Jean in Brussels, the Clinique St-Pierre in Ottignies and the Cliniques de L'Europe united under the name of "H.uni", for which he was elected for one year as the first Chairman of the Joint Medical Council from January 2020 to January 2021.

During this period, he also had to deal with the first two waves of Covid, during which, together with the Medical Directorate of the CDLE and his colleagues on the C.M., he took part in the organisation of the Covid "crisis plan".

Today, Dr. Michel Fiasse is more than ever involved with his patients and is constantly seeking to develop a local medicine that is not only more efficient, but also more personalised and therefore more human..
